Immigration Advice

*Many come to Bali, initially on Tourist visas (and buy a three (3) month visa at the airport).
If you come with the intention of having a holiday and looking at opportunities but not doing business, you are compelled to leave by the due date. You cannot extend your visa and must leave the country. You may be an author and have come all the way from North or South America, South Africa, Bermuda, Russia or Scandinavia on a’ return ticket’ and not concluded the purpose of your visit. This is an expensive procedure, but it can be resolved; by knowing what to do before leaving your home base. It is possible to save yourself a premature return ticket, by buying a budget thru’ ticket, dated to take effect three months prior to the expiry of your tourist visa; and re-enter Indonesia lawfully. There are ‘step by step’ procedures to follow. Tickets from Bali to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are very cheap if it is through a local airline such as Air Asia. Lion and Garuda are competitive on the domestic routes. In taking out a ‘temporary stay visa’, you can purchase your return tickets later in the reverse mode from Indonesia. Provided your passport has at least 6 months duration before expiry. Passports can be renewed by your consulate office whilst you are in Indonesia.
Looking ahead, by choosing the right visa will save much time and expense. It is essential not to breach conditions of your stay in Indonesia.
Crusader Care’ are familiar with technicalities on visas and extensions and suggest that you contact us thru’ our Australian office; preferably one month before your planned trip. You will not have to pay extra for this advice.
The Department of Immigration in Indonesia adheres to strict policy and whatever is submitted, must be legal, in terms of international law as well as Indonesian.

Visas

How do you plan to come? International Airlines have standard procedures for entry and are ‘au fait’ with entry requirements but should you come in by private air or sea craft, there are certain points of entry only to process Visas-on-Arrival. Some centers have Immigration departments designed to handle the local market and are not equipped to process international traffic or tourists. These are forbidden for foreign entry.
Save yourself a headache by checking details or contact us.

    Monthly extension fees apply.

    Single Entry
    for twelve (12) months stay
Lodgment of documents with DIRGENIM (Immigration) and HUKUM (Law and Legal Affairs).
Lodgment fee and yearly renewal extension fees apply.

If you plan to stay for a longer period, with the intention of living as a temporary resident in Indonesia, ‘Crusader Care’ recommends you consider a ‘temporary stay’ Kitas

  • Lodgment costs equate to approx. US$750,which includes all fees and police reports for the first year. All aliens must register where they are staying.
Thereafter a yearly renewal fee is approx. $600. Maximum period to stay without exiting is 5 years.
At this point, it is compulsory, the nearest Indonesian Embassy out side Indonesia will reprocess a new visa, so you can re-enter Indonesia.
  • From Bali, most expatriates go to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur and return the next day. A ‘stay’ Kitas, eliminates the tedious and time-consuming trips to the Department of Immigration, which may occur 3 or 4 times a month, dependent on their work load. Similarly, reporting monthly to the Police is not necessary. All- in- all, it is well worth it.
  •  ‘Crusader Care’ has done this very successfully; if you plan to ‘stay’ you will need an Indonesian sponsor and that means the sponsor’s letter, with the application are lodged at the Embassy/Consulate in your city, at least one week before departure. The application form is a questionnaire on your planned movements; they will hold your passport whilst processing the application.
  • Health Insurance Most people take out private insurance on leaving their country; this is possible in Bali on moderate rates. This matter ought to be clarified in your country as most national health schemes offer no cover once leaving on an overseas trip.
  • Holders of a Kitas can get hospital treatment at the same rates as local people but are not exempt from normal charges. For pensioners, this is far cheaper than going into international wards where the costs are considerably higher.

‘Crusader Care’ will advise and assist wherever possible; for further enquiry please do not hesitate as this is a service provided by ‘Crusaders of Bali’ (COB Missions) to Merauke, in southern Papua. “In memory of Magdalena Van der Westhuizen”
