One and the same as Randhy Aletha. “Randhy Boegis” is a ‘nom de plume’ to separate sketches from oil paintings. Both subjects need to be clearly defined because one entails ‘mail order’ and the other rapid courier tracking service or being shipped in a container.
One can only say he is incomparable as are many good artists. Randhy learnt amongst the doyen of Indonesian artists at Yogyakarta before making his mark as an international artist.
He has traveled the length and breadth of the Indonesian archipelago; areas with diverse cultures and unique characteristics.
Many of his oil paintings typify the people, as you would see them in the field, riding a buffalo or doing battle on horseback in Sumba. Regardless, Bali became a haven of expression for his art because of the placid nature and beauty of the women. Randhy is a romantic; proof is in the pudding with his art because his interpretations express beauty from perception; his heart.
Grasping the opportunity, Randhy embarked on projects that saw his paintings go to South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, The America’s, Russia, Scandinavia, and Europe.
Entrenched in Bali, he has settled down to broaden his spectrum into areas of modern art. He is not frightened to use oils with a spatula, in thick layers so thick that his subjects can appear as collages and then he can resort into deft detail so that every wrinkle can be seen or strand of hair becomes visible. Quite remarkable.
His studio is in the diminutive district of Kerobokan, not far from the notorius, long term ‘free hotel’ the Kerobokan Jail. ‘Home’ to many incarcerated expatriates.
Scenes of ‘cock fighting’ do not overly excite him but he will paint to satisfy a client who wants a 2 metre x 2 metre explosion of colour and feathers.
Interpreting art in his own unique way, Randhy’s works of art are becoming collectors pieces. In the space of 10 years, most of his paintings have appreciated seven fold, in some cases more.
Sound investment when you consider the beauty of the work and compare it to the graph of a stockbrokers trading page.
