Guide to Travel and Tours

  • Tours around Bali by coach or hired vehicle. Hiring a Toyota Kijang that will seat up to 6 people will cost about US$200 per week. Petrol in Bali is less than 50 cents/litre and favours the comfort of a planned itinerary. Drivers with bemo experience can be engaged for $15/day or $100/week.Bali

** If you plan to drive, be sure to bring a valid internationally approved drivers license from a motoring authority in your country.

  • Interpreter travel guide, or use a carer interpreter if babies are on board.

  • Dining concessions at up market and gourmet restaurants for expatriates of many nationalities.

  • Accommodation discounts are substantial and in line with local travelers and trans national tourists. If you are on a budget, Crusader Carers can arrange bookings that save you paying gross amounts ‘through the nose’.

Star rated hotels (from US$ 65 per room), permanent long or short stay in fully equipped villa’s, with swimming pools from prices as low as US$50 per night. Top of the list are double storied deluxe suites, just 15 minutes walk from Sanur beach. Beach side restaurants cater for many ethnic tastes. The condominium suites, one and two bedroom, are fully equipped with all amenities, Bali including satellite television. The sanctuary of a private bar, set up like a cozy London pub, is a retreat for a relaxing time. Drinks can be served by the pool (prices are what you would pay in any small café on the street). Just a stone throw away are three popular fast food outlets and five star restaurants. On a lower scale are Losman or home stays for backpackers from US$8 per night.

The area around Candidasa, Ahmed and Tulamban, provide quiet relaxation, swimming and diving in an atmosphere of blissful peace.

  • Many Europeans like to travel with the sun during their vocational period. The north of Bali receives less rain than the south. Lovina with its coconut lined beaches has star rated accommodation and is an ideal spot to lap up the sun.

  • In transit to Lombok are the islands of Lembongan and Nusa Penida. Cruises and arranged accommodation, comfortable bungalows are around US$70 each per day. This includes bicycle hikes, snorkeling, island tours. Excellent packages at very good prices.

  • Travel to Lombok, transfer by air, hydroplane or ferry from Bali Times vary considerably. Hire a vehicle in Bali and travel across on the ferry will take four hours. It is an experience but you can watch the dolphins and ‘flying fish’ on the way or sit and read a novel.

‘Sassak’ pottery and handcrafting areas. Senggigi, to the north is a favorite tourist pad with several five star hotels on beach estates that overlook a magnificent sunset over Bali’s sacred volcano Gunung Agung.

The Gili Islands, with pure white sand beaches and crystal clear water, teams with unbelievable marine life. Just a short trip from Bangsal, Gili Menon, the middle island features condominium suites in the centre of a Bird Park, where you will see the resplendent Macaw parrots that have been bred in captivity, far away from their native Brazil. The three islands offer excellent diving facilities and affordable luxury air-conditioned bungalows from US$25 to $80 per night. Backpacker’s home-stay with large clean rooms from US$5 to $20.
If you are writing a book you can let your imagination run riot without interruption because there are no cars around.

High speed shuttle from Bali takes up to two and a half hours and costs $69, otherwise budget on a minimum of a full day or more to reach this destination from Bali. Seasonal’ off season’ discounts apply. The high speed shuttle service provides for pickup from your doorstep in Bali. A favored form of travel, if the Gili’s are your target.
