Traditionally… spectacular designed kites were used to open and close gala events such as festivals. A culture that goes back to ancient times in China and Asia; a culture that spread and brought innovation to many countries, with their own symbolic traditions.
Throughout Indonesia, as soon as the dry season moves in and the rain disappears, kites will appear with the advent of the winds from the east. ‘Above and beyond‘ it is an expression of faith and the Hindu people revere the symbolism as an offering to the Gods. Children will look to the skies and the symbolism of a child’s education becomes apparent as a stepping stone to love for their religion. The person in charge at the end of meter upon meter of chord or fishing line looks upon the kite as a humble expression, of a very close contact with their creator.
Each year Bali has a Festival of Kites, where people compete and exhibit designs. Some are so large that they need to be towed behind a vehicle to get them aloft.
So many styles and sizes are offered on this site, we hope your participation will bring glad tidings to those that have yet to learn or cannot afford such ‘luxuries’.
Prices include packaging, but exclude postal charge. In similar form to a folding fan, bamboo struts in kit form lock into position and the kite, off the floor is pre-assembled ready to fly.
